Having a conversation with a work mate today, who is thinking of having a new kitchen fitted.
This would mean him having to move some sockets and extending the ring in the kitchen to add a copule more (currently has 2 doubles and a single), from what i can gather he still has a old wylex 4 way with rewirable fuses.
Obviously this is not up to date with current regs, so if he was to have the kitchen refitted i presume that he would need a CU change.
Obviously anything he would want doing in there would be notifiable and would need RCD protection with the exception of the freezer.
If for example, he got in B&Q or someone like that what route would they take. Would they refuse to touch it ? Do they recommend that he would need a board change?
I was just trying to open his eyes up to expect a much higher bill and more work than he has currently in mind.
