Might be a stupid question, am planning on installing lights under kitchen cabinets. Now i've never installed any kitchen lights but am i wondering is there a void to fit the downlighters an transformers? I'm imagining their is?

Not usually mate. Usually you get the type that are about 25-30 mm deep and they fix to the bottom of the unit.Same with the trannys. There are, of course, many different types

usually you will have a gap behind the wall units that you can fish cables down. trannies on top of the cupboards. sorted.

you could always fit strip lights as these can be linked together and fittings can be upto 2m in length. These would be hidden by the cornice and you can also clip the cables to it. This would light up the hole area under the units. in stead of highlighting, and could be used instead of main ceiling lights on a night. Or push the boat out with metal case lv cabinate lights with control gear so you touch the fitting to turn the lights on and off.
