Anyone see the K9 kwik-wire connector in this months PE mag? It's like a T shaped clamp and you just clamp it over the flexes and shut it down to create a T joint. It pierces the insulation to connect to the cores.....Unless I'm having a blonde moment though how can you be sure it is connecting the right cores on a 3c flex?

Yeah ive seen it, it is indeed a grown up version of the scotch-loc.

For those who aren't familliar with the scotch-loc it is a a tap-off connector available for automotive electrics which has been setting fire to peoples cars for many years now. I got quite scared when I saw it in that magazine.

I don't see how they can work properly. making a connection that you can't even see to make sure it's properly connected is just asking for something to go wrong

Scotch locks were not banned in auto electrical BUT quite a few insurers can be funny about paying out if an electrical fire on the car comes down to scotchlocks.

Seen the K9 advertised and sent off for a sample. Unlike line/wago connectors, these are not re-useable i.e. once you snap it shut it can only be forced open and will not shut properly again. Also there is no visible indication that a good connection has been made - again unlike line/wago. each K9 only connects a single core - Not sure what the point of them is TBH
