Hi guys,
In the past week have been to 3 call outs where customers are getting shocks of exposed extraneous and conductive parts.
Both because of loss of neutral in the supply. Well CNE conductor.
I think this is ridiculous. And the suppliers don't seem to be aware how dangerous this is.....
These are all separate problems and not because of one cause.
Has anyone had this so regular??
I agree it is a very good earthing system just if this keeps happening extra protection needs to be implemented

all you can do is get into contact with the DNO if you start getting a voltage appearing where it shouldn`t......i personally think PME/PNB is a very good means of earthing.....much better than a TT where you can be relying solely on an RCD.........

All I'm saying is it only takes one muppet on the supplier side and the only return path is the bonding
Im not saying its a bad system, just wondered if it was just little old
Cornwall with this problem lol

I have only ever come across this three maybe four times from memory , once on a house in the middle of Hitchin which was from a failing joint under the pavement , and two others that i can remember were out in Bucks and out in the sticks on old converted farm barns / yards .
The one that sticks in the mind most was one where when they had connected a new three phase supply they had not even touched the neutral terminals to tighten them up and it had just arced its self into oblivion !

To be honest i know some members (who i really quite do respect their knowledge on just about every subject there is it seems !) are adamant that this is a myth but having seen it more than once and also having it confirmed in a conversation with one of UK Power Networks chaps when he was out surveying one of our larger solar installs in the summer , he seemed to think that it was a bit taboo to admit it but then went on to say it was getting more and more common and he would have said that it was happening more than once a month around the London area alone !
