Lamps smashing

Hi Guys
Got a strange one here, customer rang saying she has got a kitchen light that is not securely fixed to the ceiling,anyway she is saying that every time she puts a new lamp in (screw Eddison)and switches on they, quote smash to smithereens.Has anybody come across this before where the lamps are actually smashing. Thanks in advance.

No, sounds like you need to go and have a look! I'm sure lots of people here will be interested in what you find!

Here where you put a 127volt lamp in a 230volt supply, and even then it is unlucky to actually shatter and years ago flourescents shattered sometimes in situ but not seen it for years

This did happen a number of years ago with woolworths lamps ,im sure it was the incorrect gas used may be an idea if a lamp in question was taken to the suppliers or call trading standards for advice

once replaced a halogen downlight. there was just a 1.5 T/E at the location, client had removed the lamp and the burnt out lampholder. i stuck in a 12v halogen, switched on, it exploded. then the client told me he had also removed the transformer . DOH!

Had 2 jobs in a smany weeks with the exact same problem. Each time the bulb the customer had were tat from Aldi or Wilkos

Replaced with decent brand and never had another call, yet!
