Hello all, i went to a job today and the landing light was flashing on slightly, approx every 20 secs or so, (by the way, this was when the light was off), it had a low energy bulb in. This doesn't happen when an incandescent bulb is fitted. Any ideas what is causing it? A friend has told me it is to do with the strappers inducing a voltage or something, but that doesn't make much sense to me really

Your friend is correct.....it is to do with the voltage induced in the SL strapper of the 2 way switching feeding the lamp.

It buils up over a small time period (a few seconds usually) discharges (causing the flicker) and starts again.

You can buy devices to counteract this, alternatively try changing the lamp for another make sometimes works.
