THE FLUTE

Been asked to retest on a large industrial site it had a test 3 years ago and they have results from them.
Problem is they one tested about 4 circuits on each board and just wrote pass in R1/R2 column .The other 3/4 of the boards they didn,t test at all as they have asbestos in the fuse holders.
I said they should really have a 100% test done and the boards with asbestos should be changed. they have asked for a 33% on each board this time and test all over the next 3 years.
What are your thoughts on the situation and he requirements.
Thanks for any help

So they are testing it on the basis over a 9 year period all circuits would be tested. Surely they have got this slightly wrong if they wanted to go down this route it should be 33% a year then it would be fully tested over a 3 year period.

Sorry yes that is what they want didn't write it very clearly.

Nothing wrong with doing rotational percentage testing on an installation. Some of our clients get 20% tested yearly for 5 years and others have 33% done over 3.

True Sintra,

As I understood it the max recommended interval is 5 yearly, hence (a different) 20% per year = 100% over 5 years, or less as the case may be, unless a maintenance recording system with test results is kept.

Not sure where the 9 years comes into it though ?

Why's that then?? Are you one of those people that think you're doomed and/or going to die just by looking at them??

My main worry be the statement that there is asbestos present in the boards not the fact of how often they are to be tested.

If this is the case then is would be a specialist job to remove it and not one to be taken on by you

Ah, another scaremonger in our mist!! You are joking by the way aren't you, when talking about having a ''specialist'' to remove these fuse boards?? ...lol!!
