I need a laser that will project lines on ceilings ,have a lot of downlights to fit and want to make it easy for myself.Has anyone got any suggestions.cheers

Go with the chalk line. I own 2 lasers one is a Stanley CL2 and the other is the Hilti PM32R - I had brilliant ideas for both, however I can ping a grid on the ceiling faster than set up the lasers. I even recently bought a new Leica Disto to work measurements whilst up a ladder but still seem to reach for the tape measure.

I own 2 identical chalk lines but one has blue chalk (outdoors stuff) and the other white chalk (use on new plastered ceilings to help the decorator by not having to paint over blue)

If you are wanting to make the measurements at floor level and then project them up, you could try Toolstation > Clearance > Hand Tools > Dewalt DW082K Plumb Bob Laser

Hope it helps.

Got one of these.... brilliant bit of kit:

chalk line for me too, made the mistake of buying a laser line found that I would mark out all the positions then make the exploratory holes to find joists hit some then have to re site the laser to alter the positions:mad:. Great for lining up wall lights and square fittings though :D

Same here, I tend to use the lasers when I am working on new builds and have no floor level or datum line. I fire line around the room and it makes sure all my sockets/switches are the same height. Also quite handy with making sure conduit is straight etc

I use a Bosch laser on a tripod, really pleased with it, just short of £100.00.
