I'm not knocking innovation but .... have you seen the latest?

Someone offering to buy your pv system off you at today's prices. So in theory if you've hit hard times you sell your pv system, get some capital, convert to rent a roof and the person buying the pv system gets 45.4p for today's prices. Clever - yes, moral - the jury's out.

I'm not very knowledgeable on UK PV but surely if rent-a-roof is ethical this would also be, isn't this just a natural progression of rent a roof?

Personally, I don't think it is unethical.

It just lines the pockets of people that offer sod all to society.

it's about as ethical as payday loans.

I can easily see these companies ending up with 25-30% a year returns on their investment if they're going to be buying a 4kWp south facing system for current prices, but getting the 45p FIT income on it.

The sellers would also be likely to be losing several thousand quid on their investment, as very few will have actually generated enough FIT income yet to actually cover the reduction in installed prices. EG a 4kWp system installed 2 years ago would have cost £14k, earned around £3k, and they'd now be wanting to pay something like £7-8k for it, so a net loss of around £3k.
