We have a flat that is leasehold - there's about 60 years remaining and we're about to extend it for another 150 years. Does anyone know if you need the freeholder's permission to install pv?????? Leasehold is pretty unusual in our area but I believ it's quite common in other areas so I thought someone might have come across it before.

might be worth buying the freehold,i paid ÂŁ1500 for mine, you need all sorts of permissions to do anything, once its freehold you can do what you want, within reason of course..

In all proberbility yes , all common parts ( that will include the roof ) will be the freeholders resonsibility , In some cases a management company ( which could be the leaseholders ) take over responsibilty, best adive is to check the terms and conditions of the lease or ask your solicitor

Been quoted ÂŁ10k just to extend it to 150 year lease!! I thought prices were dropping not increasing!

Thanks - I live in hope that someone has found a magic solution that doesn't include solicitors and their hungry bills.
