Hi all

Just a few questions regarding dimming LED lights. Digital and analogue. Came across a few problems when changing from fluorescent tubes dimmable to LED dimmable.
1. Light fittings are digital dimmable with fluorescent tubes. Changed to digital dimmable LED. But now when switching the dimmer switch to lower levels or any level to that matter the fitting does not dimm at all just stays on. Its doesn't switch off either when operating the switch. So this is telling me that the dimming circuit is not cutting power to the
Light or controlling the output of the led driver. Does this sound like the switch is not compaitable with the light fixture? Have tried resetting the switch also.
2. Analogue problem. Lights fittings are analogue dimmable with fluorescent tubes. Changed to analogue led lights. Dimming works perfectly fine at lower outputs but as soon as you turn it fully on it starts strobbing. Any thoughts? Does it sound like its not compaitable with the switch aswell.

Any thoughts or answers will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Are your dimmers trailing edge? Not sure if it matters with your fittings, but it certainly does when driving LED lamps from the mains.
Also, some dimmers require a minimum load to operate, and very low current LED lamps often don't trigger them correctly.

Try Varilight Dimmers - these adopt leading / trailing edge PWM and can control loads all the way down to 1W. They are available in grid or faceplate form.
Regards the lights not turning off - check your switch wire is live and not neutral.

In regards the Analogue dimming - check the total load connected to the dimmer and confirm this is within its capabilities. You may need to apply a de-rating factor dependant upon the dimming load.

Let us know how you get on.
