Hello all,

Was just looking for peoples opinions on LED lamps. The company I work for has two showrooms we trade from and in total there are 350 GU10 lamps across the two. Bosses have been asking if we should move to LED lamps and I have suggested we should as we will save money and the lamps last longer than standard ones. We have been offered three brands of lamps a Phillips one for around ÂŁ23.00 each, a Bell one for around ÂŁ9.00 and a chinese import for about ÂŁ6.50. Does anyone have any opinion on LED lamps, are the chinese ones dramatically worse than the phillips ones. We fitted a lot of PV over last couple of years and I have found chinese panels to be of good quality and many of the household appliances we buy now are chinese made and they seem to be of reasonable quality so was just looking for peoples opinions.

Many thanks

Hi Holmes,

There is a thread on here somewhere about GU10 led lamps. If you put it in the search bar you will find alot of different brands that are available and peoples preferences. Some come with guarantees but are a bit costly. Suppose it depends on what your firm want to spend on them. IMO check out TLC direct, they sell different types, the cheapest being ÂŁ4.

Kosnic LED Lamps have been by far the most reliable i have used in last year or so..!!

it works out that you save approx ÂŁ5 per year per lamp if you use the lamp for 3-4 hours a day

Kosnic retail for about ÂŁ12 so payback is easily achieved along with longer life!

I fitted 35 bell lamps before Xmas in a kitchen not too bad for money
Fitted 24 Philips 7w lamps in an other and they are miles better but not worth twice the price.ge do a similar 7w to Philips but doesn't dim.
think igot some of they kanlux bulbs from Edmundson and they were quite good for the cash money
danic do some as well with quite a wide angle compared to the bell lamps anyway colour is abit blue tho

Osrams have dropped in price now, we can get them for around ÂŁ12....

I'd stay away from the cheap ones, they wont last long and you'll be back changing them constantly, thats from experiance...

I do like led lamps but they can be a very direct light and lux output isnt that great compared to alternatives...

Have you thought about CFL GU10's?...Cheaper, brighter and can last just as long....although dont look as good as LED's...

I'd say from the choice of 3 lamps you have given, you'd need to go with the Phillips. For that price, they are probably 7w and will give off a light both similar in colour and brightness as the halogens you have at the moment.

People are often attracted to LED's with a low price tag and more often than not, they don't cut the mustard.
