Hi,
I've got an Innr 4m light strip I'm running up my stairs, I bought an aluminium diffuser to run it in but I'm getting a very slight buzz/vibration on the aluminium when I run my fingertip along it like it's not earthed (no shocks or tingling). The light has 1 of those thin 2 core power cables, is it the earth in my socket that needs attention or is it normal (and safe) for these lights to do that? Should I just ditch the aluminium track (don't really need it now as lightstrip will be hidden would just be easier to fix) or is the light/socket itself unsafe?
Thanks

i have similar on 1 metal light switch. earth has been tested and is fine. it's probably just induction, same principan that makes a motor turn.

Looking online, I see that it's a 2 pin plug in PSU so I expect it to have a "square within a square" double insulated symbol on it. It's a known common issue for some of these to have a tiny leakage current between mains and output - it's safe, but as you've found, something you can often feel with light contact.
I get it with my laptop (Apple Macbook Pro), and people have reported similar with various other types of equipment.
If it bothers you, you could earth the aluminium extrusion and it shouldn't have any effect on the lights.
