Hi guys

Been researching for a while on pir security lights, any suggestions on what type and where to get them from?

depends on if you want something basic that is suseptable to false activations or not.combined 500w pir floodlights about £10 but they activate i windy conditions.GjD tolerate windy conditions and have pulse counts to eliminate movement of cats for example. The gjd systems i installed for a security company were very reliable with huge range but they were very expensive,i think just over £200 a sensor. They are 12vcd and have there own powersupply interfaced with a relay controller to activate the flood lights.Would recommend gjd if youre covering an area larger than a tennis court.most electrical wholesalers sell the cheap version of which no particular brand springs to mind.there much the same.only further advice i can give is use 300w lamps.they last so much longer.

The type and number depend specifically on the area to be lit, the reasons for lighting it and the conditions in the area. As the previous post says they range from a £10 bog standard fitting right up to £100+ for commercial security lights. I would try looking at some "on line" at wholesalers like screwfix to get an idea of your price and range options. I personally would fit an LED unit that has an array chip (Looks like a small yellow or white square with a grid pattern etched on it.) and not lots of individual LEDS as these tend to give better light output.
