Friend (honestly) of mine was given an observation on his yearly scam visit, something to do with the ring circuit being too long. Used r1 figure to work out length of cable I assume.

There's nothing in the BYB regarding this where else could this requirement be?

Appendix 15 fig 15A Regulation 433.1.204 (iv) states taking account of the total floor area being served. (historically. a limit of 100 m2 has been adopted)
 
If he is unsure he must ask for clarification and justification.
Only reasons that spring to mind is that the length of cable does not satisfy Zs or volt drop requirements, or that the floor area served is too large.
This is worked out in the OSG table 7.1 to be 106m for a 32A B type, with certain conditions.
