Hellooo to all those in forum land,...hope you are all doing good!!

Im looking for people who are doing or have done the 2365 level 3 course, as i am starting it in september and would like to just touch base with those in the know.

I have all the City and Guilds worksheets for the course in module by module sections, and it looks a lot like level 2 just a bit more deatil, more emphasis on inspection and testing, and new bits on micro generation and re-newables.

any and all info , as always will be greatfully accepted

have a good day all

THANKYOUU!!

Eh up :)

You've got it pretty sussed in terms of your assessment of what's involved based on the worksheets. As well as more inspection and testing, there's also fault-finding, and a lot more on design.

The biggest difference is the assessment. There are one of two multi-choice exams, but most of the assessment is "proper" written exams, and quite a few assignments, where you're given scenarios (including plans). Some of these are really involved - particularly the electrical systems design module - and will take you a while to complete. Although there's a disappointing lack of practical work, the theory and knowledge is a lot more applied and relevant to the profession.

The science module - 302 - is a real ball-ache. There's not a whole lot more in terms of breadth than the equivalent unit on the level 2, but the depth is so much greater. You'll have to sit a closed book 2 hour exam, where you will need to know the methods of how to do calculations from scratch, and be comfortable drawing, labelling and describing how certain circuits work (e.g. discharge lamps, DOL starter, full wave rectifier). There's some stuff about lighting design ("lumen method", "cosine law") that isn't in level 2 at all.

Any questions, let me know :)

Don't sweat it, Spark2B. :) If it was easy, it wouldn't be worth striving to attain it. After you've done it, you'll be proud of your achievement, and it'll put you in good stead for the rest of your working life. Do the best you can. You'll be reight. :)

I'm on Level 3 now mate, doing my 04A exam soon. Open book, 65 questions 70% pass mark. Going to be a tough one. :D

Finished my Level 3 last year. Took 6 months at 2.5 days a week so make of that what you will...

Overall found it a doddle and don't think you'll have any problems with it if you've done well on the level 2.
