Hi,

just wondered if anybody has any thoughts on the following
i have replaced some tubes in flourescent fittings, the tubes are failing after 4 months. They are dimmable fittings and apparently there is a requirement to turn off this facility inside the fitting when you change the tubes. The fitting resets itself back to dim mode after a few days.
My view is its a maintenance issue and I should have been made aware of this but the client wants the lamps replaced again free of charge.

Am I liable as no detail or information on the fitting was issued and the request was to replace the tubes ?

Yes, I would say you have a duty of care to your customer, and any problems you should take up with the supplier/manufacture.

Yes you are liable for it, it is hardly your clients fault that you didn't correctly identify the type of fitting or the re-lamping procedure.

Are you saying, that because you never switched off the dimming function, the lamps are failing?
Is there a warning on the fitting about this, were you given a copy of the manufacturer's instructions?
I would not accept liability if there was no warning lable, and no instructions were provided.
