I think I am lucky if I get 100 hrs. Probably 200 with CFLs, OK I exaggerate - 250hrs.

Why do multiple lights on one switch go so much quicker?

I have a light bulb in my cupboard which will last over 100 years, I just need to keep it for that long to be able to prove it.

To be fair the Centennial bulb is only just illuminated.
Someone started a thread on this a while ago; my point then was that I don't doubt that a light bulb could be made nowadays which will last 100 years, but for a mass produced item few people are likely to want to pay extra for a lamp which will out last the fitting it's used in, never mind outlasting them and their children and maybe even their grandchildren.

Sorry if I appear to have poured cold water all over that.
I suppose my 'point' was that I don't feel it is as remarkable as it has been made out to be given the background information and the conditions that it has been kept under; by the look of the website they even held a parade for the light bulb.
Any excuse for a knees up.
