What is the guidance for fitting lighting or power outlet in a fireplace fitted with a wood burning stove? I want to fit background lighting and a ventilation fan to circulate the warmth into the room. Are there special heat resistant fittings? Are specific distances involved? Or are the ambiant / radiant temperatures not a problem? Thanks

All cabling and accessories should be suitable for the surrrounding environment, if its going to get hot then your looking at specialist equipment like you find in ovens for lighting etc, power and switching would be located externally.
Without knowing the temp' we are subjecting the cabling and accessories to it's hard to say if there are other options.

Normal pvc wiring and domestic type fittings will melt at wood burner temperatures. You would need to be looking at fittings used in industrial applications ie furnaces/industrial ovens.
