Hello.

Can someone explain to me the methods of wiring a switch? I beleive there are 2 methods; 1. Taking the supply to the ceiling rose and 2. Taking the supply to the switch first and then to the lights.

Thanks

correct. either method is acceptable. all depends on the type of lights ( is ther e room in the fitting to 3 plate?), and the installer's preference for an easy life.

So how to do spread to power to all 3 switches in a 3 plate using method 2? Obviously you only have 1 feed cable coming in, and what happens to the feed out cable? I just need a good explanation of how it all works? :)

using your method 2, generally you would have 1 feed to the switch, linked from switch 1 to 2 and 3. the lights would be individually switched, but all on 1 circuit. the other way would be to have 3 separate feeds to the switches, so the 3 sets of lights would be on separate circuits. this is not considered by many to be good practice, as you would need to isolate 3 circuits to make for safe isolation.
