ok, just started a big extension rewire. they have a reall large fireplace with a logburner in it. customer asked if they could have some sort of light in the fireplace.
It would be ok to get a cable into it as it has not yet been plastered or fire boarded yet so any suggestions? i have looked at brick lights, however anybody seen any small lights i could yuck away at the top as there is about a foot recess up the chimney before it is all boarded off against the flue pipe.

any pointers would be appreciated.

Lot of factors here. Heat - maybe any filament would overheat giving short lamp life, it needs to be easy to change. Soot - it'll need cleaning regularly if the do burn logs. If you use LED's you may have a solder melting problem. Brick lights each side may be a solution but I bet they'll be a sod to sink in.
