Can anyone recomend a good light when working in a loft? Im fed up with working off a torch and nearing coming through the ceiling! It can be mains powered or battery opperated but Im looking for something that will light the whole loft. Thanks guys.

I use a IP65 4ft tube fitting when in lofts or dark areas, connected with flex to a plug top and suspended by bungees. find they spread light across the whole area better than anything else such as halogens or normal lamps which are more directional!

I like that idea, I may have to knock something up in the shed later. Have used halogen floods and standard clip on wanderlights, but I always seem to be working in my own shadow because of the directionality (?) of them.

Got a head torch! look like a **** but it works a treat .............dont forget to take it off.
they now do a one that clips to front of a baseball cap as well

For a loft I would also go with a 5ft double fluorescent as suggested above by telectrix. Cheap and cheerful to buy, low maintenance, cheap to run and it's linear nature helps keep shadows to a minimum. If you use a double then lamp failure doesn't leave you in total darkness.
