Hello,

I have just started doing electrical work on an extension (all notified to the council ect, also be signed off by them...)

I'm trying to incorporate a 'loop in' lighting circuit and I am slightly confused at the moment (maybe I'm tired) on how to go about it.
Please look at my wiring diagram. [ElectriciansForums.net] Lighting Circuit - A bit confused

Earth removed for clarity.
There are 3 rooms; Passageway, extension and a toilet. Each light(s) in a room should be switched on/off
independently.
I believe the passageway wiring is correct, but I am stuck on how to wire up the lights between the 2nd light in the extension and toilet light (marked with big '?').

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

you need to feed perm. L from light 1 in utility to toilet light. then sw L from light 1 to light 2 utility.

A loop lighting circuit is straight forward.

From Consumer unit take a T&E cable to first lighting point in circuit, then take another to the next and so on till you get to the last one in the circuit.
Connect the L of the loop cable to LOOP, N to N, and CPC to the earth terminal in the rose, and do the same all the way through the circuit, so you end up with 2 cables at each light point, and only one at the last.
Next, take a T&E cable from the rose to the switch position, at the rose connect L to Loop, and N (sleeved brown) to the L in the rose, CPC to earth terminal and at the switch connect up 1 way and sleeve the blue core brown.

Once complete you will have 3 x T&E cables at each point, and only 2 at the last one.

your diagram is almost right. forget for a moment the 2nd light in the utility. your loop goes from the first light in each room to the first light in the next. the second light in each room is fed as a "slave" from the first with a sw. L and N. you will find that on a couple of the lights, you have to double up N conductors as you will have 4 cables ( inc. the N to the lamp) in a 3 way block.

each light switch needs a live(red) each light needs a neutral(black) from each light switch a live to the corrosponding light

as far as my eyes can see , that looks spot on. you have the loop feed to each 1st light, and sw. L to the additional lights.

I guess the easiest way would be to run a supply from ignition /aux via a relay that drops the supply when the lights are on.
