Good evening all; advice would be welcome please. I have tried isolating our upstairs lighting circuit today but find that the fuse (re-wireable in old Volex CU) doesn't seem to actually disconnect the power. Just for good measure I have in turn removed every other fuse in the CU just in case, but the lights stayed on - all other fuses seem to work as they should but not 1st floor lights. The installation is old but in good order and unmolested over the years - no additions etc. Has anyone come across this before? Thank you.

I see you're a trainee from your profile info, can your mentor not help you figure out why the circuit still has power? It's not an easy question to answer without seeing the actual installation.

Detached property?

You say you removed all the fuses one by one, did you put them back in after each test or did you leave them out.

Its not unheard of to have multiple feeds to circuits!

Best you get a sparky in to help.
