Lighting design software?

Can anyone recommend any lighting design software? How much, pro's, con's, training available, ease of use etc etc

autocad, free if you look in the right places, training available, not sure how easy it is to use though never used it personally lol... :devilish:

Dialux is a free lighting design package that has some benefits. Not all manufacturers supply the Dialux data but quite a lot do. Reasonably intuitive to use but I would recommend a training course on lighting design to be able to use it to its full potential.

and would you reccomend the cibse crowd for training.

i have the sums in one of my books but how accurate are they, i should do an experiment to test what my tutor taught me is spot on.....

i was doing a house once and they the guy that owned it went got a lighting design different from mine and he moved the lights 50mm over and changed to led's
