as says above im after some ideas with lighting in attic conversion. my drawing says spot lights but if i remember correctly these are about 120mm in height where the the the gap is only 150mm max and not giving required room for heat dissipation..

any expierieice and ideas welcome welcome

Maybe LED down lights that are designed purely for LED's (not GU10 with LED lamps in). There are some pretty small fittings out there like this and as someone can't come along later and fit a 50W lamp in it so you are not effected by heat problems.

Is this directly under the tiles / slates?
You may find that you have a free flow of air if it is. Now I don’t know if ventilation changes things but it's worth bearing it in mind.

I doubt that very much with building regs. Probably need something like 150mm of insulation.

ipu, send me copy of the conversion spec, I'd be really interested in seeing it. Want to do mine one day.

Depends on the size/shape/use of the conversion.
Presumably if it's a conversion the ceiling will be plasterboard?
You could go for low profile fluorescent fittings on the apex (fit a wooden wedge to make a flat surface if necessary) or low profile surface mount fittings such as the ones used under kitchen cabinets; LED if possible.
Alternatively wall lights or bulkhead lights either end as high up as possible, and/or some kind of low level light such as step lights or LED strip lights.
