Got a small job to do for my father in law. 5x led floodlights around the front and side of his works unit.

He wants the ability to turn the lights off from 2 switches ( 1 for the 2 side lights and 1 for the 3 lights on the front) inside the unit. He wants the lights to be on a 2 motion sensors (1 round the side and 1 on the front). He also wants a photocell so the lights don't turn on during the day if the switches are left on.

What's the best way to set this up?

Supply to 1st switch, then to photocell, then to the 2 motion sensors and then to the lights?

It may sound like a simple question but I'm sure there is a easier solution than the one above?

I would go for:
Supply to photocell, divide output to switches, on to sensors, then on to lights.
Alternatively, scrap the photocell, and use sensors w/ integral photocells
He wants the photocell to prevent the lights being switched on during the day from the manual switches, sensors with integral PC's wont do that. All thats required is a standard arrangement of PIR's and override switches, with the S/L from the overrrides run through a photocell.

I've been drinking since mid afternoon, so please excuse if I'm a little slow on the uptake ;) .

What I described would allow 2 possibilities:
switch off: no power to sensor, therefore no power to light. = light off. OR
switch on: power to sensor = light comes on when the sensor says so.

How might this not meet @gazdkw82 's needs? I guess many PIRs have an override facility (off-on-off-on) to allow permanently on, but not sure that would be a problem, unless he needs to absolutely prohibit lights-on during daylight.

I did google motion sensors with photocell but didn't come up with alot. Just sensors and photocells separatly
Sorry matey. I have fitted ceiling sensors w/ photocell, but not wall mounted ones. No options out there I take?

Usually (at least for me) PIRs come with a built in photocell and this can be set ( covers case where different levels of light on different PIRs). Also although you don’t want it , my system switches on the lights if you flick the switch off and on quickly.

my system uses a control box which fires the lights from wireless PIRs and incidentally switches on the lights from my bell push on the front door.
As stated the PIRs have photocells build in.

each controller is paired with selected PIRs so each sets of lights works independently.
