Hi

Customer has a shop, front sign of which is currently lit by 5 individual 100w GLS lamps.

Wants a photocell sensor for dusk/dawn control but also controlling that a timer unit so that he can set the lights to turn off after 2am every night.

The lights are fed on 1.5 T&E from a Type B 6amp Mcb on a 17th Board with RCD protection.

Does anyone know of a timer unit that will be suitable??

Thanks

Yeah just a mechanical immersion heater will do the job. Could be mounted next to DB and wire supply to lights through it, then through photocell outside and finally to lights.

Watch out for some electronic times, especially if there is/will be LE lamps or lighting involved.

Whilst they state they can handle the load, some cant and weld the contacts on start up.

Should be fine with a mechanical one though.

Thanks for that, not fitted one before and having seen some of the electronic ones I thought the max loads at 400W was a very low.

Cheers

For a proper job I would use a sangamo timeswitch and a NEMA socket photocell kit in series, connected via an auto/off/override switch. Then you have a resilient installation that is easily maintained.
