I have carried out a PIR on a domestic property which has an old Wylex rewirable fuses and there is no cpc to the lighting circuits which I have recommended improvement. The question is if they just want the DB upgrading is it possible to leave the lighting with a note on the EIC? All wiring is PVC.

as long as all fittings/switches are classII, an cu is labelled. note on cert. if there are any metal fittings, then it's a code 2

Go to the Electrical Safety Council website, they have a PDF file all about this. You can do as you suggest, but it isn't always as clear-cut as that. The leaflet explains the situation much better than I could!

telectrix, that was explained very well and quickly. Don't know why I found that so challenging! Must be too early! I'd still recommend reading the leaflet to get a good understanding. :wings:

Tip: I have found that printing off the ESC lealet and giving it to the customer usually makes them see the seriousness of it regarding limitations to what they can fit and safety. It's worded stronger than I could.

im afraid this is what people are doing until they have a problem and then are forced to act on there installation it will stay the same.

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
