Trying to google a product that can do this - but struggling to describe it!

Has anyone come across a switch that allows lights to be fully on in one position, very low - for night time use in a second position - and completely off in a third - and without resorting to a preset dimmer?

Ideally, I'd like a product - or a way wiring existing products - that automatically puts the lower level of light on when it gets dark.

I know I can use the preset dimmer, or an ordinary light with a photocell, but haven't found anything that gives me this combinations, so any suggestions gratefully received!

Thanks Ian - using a PIR could be another way to go, rather than having them on photcell.... but still can't see how I get the two light level settings - unless I simply have an ordinary set of lights - for full brightness - and a couple of 1.8W LEDs on a PIR...

Would be nice to know if someone's come up with a 'joined up' product solution though.

These are internal lights - a hallway, stairs and landings - to allow elderly couple to move around at night without having to think about lights - or turn on the (full) normal lights.

You could use a 3 position 2 way and off switch with a photocell and dimmer on one way, and use the other way to bypass that so the lights come on at full intensity.
That might work, I dunno haven't really thought it through.

What about the new light controle mods which u could set up so 1 switch would dimm all lights or a remote switch beside bed which would just turn all lights dimm to the toilet or kitchen but you would need seperate power to each light and doaway with sw/w.

This would cost you could also set it so 1 switch turns outside light on and all others off in the house on there way out .
