P

peteludman

just a stupid question my brain is a mess at moment.

i want to fit another 10 fluresent lights high frequency on top of 10 of the same lights so 20 all together the tubes are 26 w 1 tube in each.

i get 2.2A for the lot so a 10A breaker would be fine and switch would be fine to.

is this the right way of working it out, looking at the tube wattage i know there would be a start up current but a type c breaker would take that wouldnt it

just let me know if im wrong or right and just being stupid

thanks:cool:

when calculating current for cable calculations or switch gear etc for fluorescent lights i think it is usual to multiply by a loading factor of 1.8.
So even a type B, 6A mcb should be ok - a 10 A mcb would still be fine for protecting 1.5mm cable if the installation method is nothing out of the ordinary.
