Lighting ??

In work today some fella was onabout a job he did the other day where he put a old light fitting up and after it was on a while smelt a hot smell he said it was the dust but doesn't that mean somthing far worse he was pretty adamant it wasn't a loose connection in the fitting

possible dust on lamps. you get the same with an electric fire if it's not been used for a while.
