hi guys

i know this is a long post but just wanted to give you a bigger picture of the situation, i appreciate you reading and replying!!

can anyone recommend a type of light fitting that would be suitable for a music studio?
there are no windows and the room is about 4M x 6M, at the moment they have 4 lighting points- each one having 12v track lighting with 3 halogen spots on each.

the trouble they are having is that the lights go on and off randomly, and i think the reason for this would be either a loose connection or the heat from the halogen lamps making the transformer overheat and switching itself off until it has cooled down and then switches itself back on again.
ive checked the tightness of all conections (at the lights, the switch and the ccu) and all seems fine.

so basically i need advice on what type of light to use for this situation, such as: can withstand the vibration from the loud music, dont give off much heat, (the ceiling is lined with fabric) and give off a nice natural light.

the customer doesnt like flourescent lights, thought about led's but might work out a bit expensive,

thanks in advance

Just fitted 10 of these fittings in a private club, they were also dimmable with a separate driver for each unit, and 4 have em kit....very impressed and look good.

the studio is in a building with other rooms and halls being used by others, so i cannot cut into the ceiling because i would be cutting through the soundproofing
Well use surface modulars then, they are only 2" deep anyhow and hardly look any different than recessed, you need a decent light level with high output lux and low energy costs, One light with a 1.2 mtr gap between in all directions with a few spots thrown in for good measure will enhance the room and be under 200 watts overall.

ok thanks i'll check those out and see what the customer thinks,

Avoid dimming in a studio!! You may create both electrical and audible noise.
