Lights without CPC

Got a house where bloke is renovating a down stairs corridor. The existing 2 way light switch and light fitting does not have a CPC. He wants the position of the switches moving and new LED downlights. Definitely no way back to board without chasing wire along walls in 2 reception rooms. Is it possible to pick up a CPC to the new lights /switches starting from one of the sockets already in the corridor? This would be easy to do but obviously the lights would be using a earth return path from a different circuit.

If the corridor is being renovated then i would rewire that area and see if you can locate a cpc in other parts of the circuit , with the old type of wiring they are normally capped with steel capping so cables can be replaced quite easily

if running a separate cpc, get it from the same circuit if at all possible. must be 4mm, alternatively, make sure accessories are clasII and label CU accordingly.

If the cable is old, have you actually tested it yet to see if it is fit for continued service? The circuit may need rewiring anyway.
