O

Ohmagain

The previous cowboys who worked on my friends house (dwelling in a 300+ dwelling complex, converted badly in places), not only had several dangerous bog jobs all over the place. They also did not even bother to link, wire up properly or even connect the smoke detectors, shoving cables way out the way 'live',

I want to disconnect the dedicated circuit as do not trust what is on it, as colors of the cable change Even though it tests ok, I've seen there tricks and not taking any chance. So was going to connect smoke detector to the new lighting circuit, unfortunately running another 1.5 - 3 & earth is just not feasible; but running a single core link cable would be very feasible, quick. As they have been at the sharp end of some high priced cowboys as well.

I'm thinking of using 1.5mm Single core, but not sure if the units inter-connector link cable would need to be double layered protection, and/or fire rated; so alarms stay interconnected longer :S

Is there a product usable in the uk for this task? Had a brief look but pretty fruitless , but thought I'd ask to get a little background on this topic :)

WTF??? how come you can run a single from point a to point b but not a 3c+e?

If wired interlinks are used all of the alarms need to be fed by the same circuit.

I can not fit even a 1.0 T&E through and would have drill a further hole in a impossible place next to bunches of cables. So though i would see if there is anyway within the regulations a link cable can be used as they are out of funds and cant afford radio linked. will by them myself, fit and collect funds back over time. But if they have to come from the same circuit would make sense for separation of circuits.

The trunking we have managed to squeeze in is at maximum capacity, but could fit a single cable along side. so was just inquiring if it is possible and with in regulations?

there's always a way to do it correctly, even if it means damage and repairs to decor. if you and the customer aren't prepared to accept this then leave it alone.
