who's the manufacturer? i has an old avo and phoned avo megger with the model and serial number and they came back with the details that it had been supplied to the royal navy in 1938. maybe durhan used it in his sardine can. LOL.

Sorry to bring this topic back up but just replying to Questions

Manufacturer is Elliott Brothers (London)

NO Durham never used 1938 equipment... we had advanced into the modern day age of 1980's when i left!!

i remember sat on top of a motor (big one) with a new out the Box "tiff" (fast track engineering branch member) he had a bridge megger and wanted to check the fields of the motor as it was not working correctly!! after a quick discussion about where he dug that out from he insisted it was the tool for job....!! learnt it in training!

any way i clip leads on and hold in place while he whirls this handle up and I move the dials.....!! any way after 10 mins or so he was getting agitated and saying oh its too hard to do ...... i walk away and come back with a IR tester and ZAP ZAP ZAP.... oh yes Blue Phase has gone to earth....!

MUPPET!!!!

needless to say i never saw him use the BM again..!!
