little help on insulation resistance. although i have my 2391 it's been around 3 years since i've tested and have just start a new job where a lot of it is involved.

Instead of disconnecting every emergancy light etc when meggering out a circuit can you twist together the live and neutral of the circuit your testing together at the board then proceed to test between live/neutral and your cpc without disconnecting voltage sensistive equiptment or have a got it completely wrong.

Im sure i read somewhere that this was an alternative method when disconnecting lights etc was not an easy option. My gaffer on site said just test to the light switch but I'm not happy doing that for obvious reasons

Thanks in advance
gaulty.

Yes mate. And mark it as a Limitation on the certificate too. Dont forget to drop it to 250 volts either. However, as the L+N are joined together, no current can flow and therfore no damage to the appliance, however, opinions seem to be divided on this so play safe and test at 250 volts.
Should be tested with all light witches on so that wiring is included in the ir test.
I carry in the van a couple of the normal reference books, osg, etc, which clearly outline these procedures, well worth having mate.

Initially test at 250V then if it's all sweet crank up to 500V remember to mark it as LIM on Line/Neutral column and note on cert.

Also test 2 way switches in all positions.

thanks mate was 95% sure you could do it that way just the gaffer had never heard of it and had me doubting myself. Thanks again
