Ok doing some galv trunking few offsets to do and few bends to make but my knowledge of trunking is basic to say the least ,i there any vids out there u know off or could let me know how to off set ,thanks ,stevie

no, offsets will be very tight and boss wont part with the extra money (tight git) for manafactured bends ,been looking up utube and stuff but cant find dilly squat on trunking bending.

if i remember right with 50mm trunking its your bend mark, then 21mm either side, and then you cut bits out and folds together like a a a a a a a a a a bent piece of trunking.

You could have worded that better!
But yes it’s the way to do it, like conduit practice is the only way to learn how to do things.
What size trunking are you using? This may sound silly, but I always found larger trunking easier to work with.
See what you mean about no information out there, this is all I managed to find, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRU2Y5GbfTI
Just make sure you have some galvanised plate to make up gussets.
Get a chippie to cut to a block that’s a snug fit in the trunking, it makes life one hell of a lot easier.

i agree its not the best post ive contributed to this forum, but its hard to explain how to cut the right angles. here goes:

If you need to bend 45 degrees, then you divide this angle by 2 and set this onto your protractor rule. So this will be 22.5 degrees. add this to 90, andset that on your protractor. Mark this across the tray/trunking from the back of your bend.
This will gve you one side of your cut.Now minus the 22.5 from 90, and again mark this on the tray. You shpuld end up with a traingle that meets at the back of bend. Now all of the lip, inbetween the triangle, and opposite the back of bend needs to be cut out, but only half of the triangle. This will save you needing to cut a gusset.

Perosnally, i use a 125 or 115mm grinder with 0.8 or 1mm cutting discs, its far more efficient than a hacksaw. However i learnt using a hacksaw and a file, and if no power is available, then im still able towrk. Id try it using a hacksaw ect, and then progress to a grinder.

I hiopwe yove been able to follow whative written, but ive got a rough diagram i drew on CAD, andill try and convertit so i can post it.

OP's boss is a prime example of penny wise, pound foolish. the time taken to make you own bends outweighs the cost of manufactured bends by a mile. OK if it's an awkward non standard angle, but for 90's, 45's, etc. far cheaper to use pre-made bends.

as much as i enjoy making my own bends ect, Tel is right. making your own bends is often a false economy. I always make them on medium duty tray, as i hate the flimsy ones that are supplied. thats just personal preference though.
