Was at a house today doing spots etc switch mcb off went to switch back on trip, checked my wiring all fine switch mcb again trip left it for a while switched on and stayed on (there is a leak also right next to the lights) now my question is, is the breaker faulty as it switches on if you keep switching it on or is the walter creating a fault the circuit isnt tripping cheers

In all seriousness it's a bit of a crystal ball type answer you are looking for here.
Did you investigate to see if there was any water ingress at any connections in the circuit ? Were all your test results normal ?

Regardless, surely you as the professional should be advising that the power remain off to said light(s)until leak is repaired
what are they doing getting a sparky in to do work, when what they actually need is a p,
a plu, a plum, sorry, can't say the word.swearing is not permitted here. although plum does seem apt...

by wiring all fine...do you mean you did a IR test?

Yes, water can cause MCB's to trip...dry the fitting out / get the client to fix the leak. Or, isolate that lighting point (if possible) and see if the MCB holds...

Replace MCB, could be 'soft'...

Test results fine mcb prob just old and needs replaced the water isnt far from fitting i couldnt see any fMage etc just 1 min lights work fine next the breaker wont switch back on now typing it out i think its the actual mcb it has been one of those day and im tired
