Evening chaps, I've had a good look through previous posts but couldn't find a definitive answer,

Is there a recommended way of doing all the live tests on an economy 7 board? I didn't see an over ride btw.

Had same problem a while back, boss wanted us to test at night, customer quite rightly said no ,ended up getting eon out to fit isolators after meters, so we just turned whole lot off and ran tails into off peak cu from the normal supply isolator ( just for live tests)
and put everything back after ,in this case that was fine as all tails/earths were same size/lengths meters in same location etc

Can you run a temporary cable (L&N) from the 24 hr supply? -, if its close by and fed from same service fuse then the readings should be virtually identical

Don't see why not as long as it can be isolated safely and cable csa/resistances are same (which is why we used the existing tails/earth)

Thanks for replies people,

I'll have a look at running a pair of tails from the "on" to the off peak board.

Thats is the way I would do it but as an ex metring inspector a polite word of warning, dont take it for granted that off peak ccu is dead, a malfunction on the suppliers timeswith or teleswitch can and does energise during the day, there is also a split tarriff which looks the same and is called e7 but energises for 2 hours in the afternoon usually a 2 hour slot between 3 and 5pm

I know this is an old post but it needs to come back alive as it does not answer the question!
i just finished a rewire to the 24hr supply of house. Eco 7 tested out at >1000 Mohms so no need to rewire. Just cu change to eco7.
eco 7 cu on one side of garage and 24hr the other side.
service head in between them with meters concealed in the wall.
managed to get Ze from meter and r1+r2 from cable to give Ze at cu, can calculate Zs but can't do RCD tests.

any ideas today on testing.
just wanted to ask before calling Napit

I would do but I'm subbing for the council and if my supervisor finds that I've chopped the seals he'll be less than pleased!:D

Pmsl I did years of council. Cut loads of seals. Never any electricity so had to link through to test/put kettle on....aah the good old days
