Hello to everyone, and excuse me for the stupid question :)
I have a valve in my cooling system that I need to disable every now and then so my acc heater heats the engine as well as the cabin.
Anyway.
The valve is 13ohms has a consumption 1amp and runs on 12v.Is it all right if I connect a resistor with same resistance on the leads so the module doesn't detect a fault or is there a better way.
What wattage should the resistor be, the valve looks like its 12w, so same or more ?
Thank you in advance !

Try a small 12v lamp across it.

Lamp registers as short on canbus, but on the other hand resistor will heat up probably.I don't know what's right.
How many wires are on the valve
can you give me the number off the valve or post a pic.

2 wires, it's the "turnover" valve on x5 (64126950257)
The most simple way would be to find a 2nd hand one and simply plug it in without the hoses attached.

Or get a wire wound potentiometer and vary it until you find the sweet spot, I'm guessing though that you would have to keep clearing the fault with a scan tool at various stages.

You may find that the supply to the solenoid isn't a simple on/off, and it may use PWM or a hold mode once the solenoid is energised.

Simply using a resistor may not work anyway, as it may use back EMF detection.

The easiest way would be to get another valve or bypass the hose on the one thats there.
