Hi all,

I'm gradually going through the stages of finding the locations of the wiring in my house and am finding that all of it, when in the walls is run in the cavity between properties.

When running the new twin & cpc, would you use rods to pull the new stuff through? If not, how much opening up works would you do?

I'm going to try and attatch a picture from my android phone of behind the cu position showing how they are run...

the cables should not be run in the cavities, but chased in the plaster. cavity wall insulation reacts with the pvc insulation, and also the cables are not supported in any way.

Just out of curiosity, what is the standard accepted method when re-wiring in stud walls. Obviously you can't chase the wall itself, and noggins preclude the ability to drop the circuits down from above? Is it just a case of having to remove a section of the wall, presumably between studs?

Cheers

Drill through into the stud wall from above, tap an hole above the next noggin down and drill through and so on till you get where you want to go
Fish the cable down each section after you drill down until its where you want and patch the small holes

Cheers for that.

I guess what made me think it might be easier to replace a noggin wide strip of PB, is the requirement to clip the cable every 400mm on vertical runs. Do people bang holes every 400mm or is this a requirement that is often ignored :confused5:
