The iee code of practice states that extention leads in excess of 25metres shall be provided protection by an r.c.d Does this apply to 110v leads as i an never recall seeing r.c.d on as temp 110v installs .I presume the limitation is due because the long distance effects earth loop impedance values.I have also noted that a lot of pat testers fail long lead test because testers do not realise that their is a seperate function for this. One final question is the earth bond test similar to a earth loop impedance test and can i use a multi function tester to do this as i have inkling m.f.t does not deliver 25amps but not 100% certain.

for earth bond test you must use a pat tester, not a mft.
