Just a quickie guys. Looking to buy a threesome of 1000mm or 1200mm masonry bits. Any recommendations? Erbauer/Titan are possibilities but open to spending more on better quality bits.

one word of warning. never attempt to start a hole with one of these. they can suddenly bend at 90degrees and rip your face off. always start hole with say a 16" bit then shove the long one in.

I wanted a 1000mm x 20mm the week before last and was buying it as a single for £ 19

Spotted the same make 3 different sizes in a pack under the display unit for £ 20

I know I'm a bit of a skinflint most of the time, but I do believe in paying good money for good drillbits.

bought one of those sets 14.99 and it was cracking , drilled a few holes through stone at a castle with the 20 mm if i needed a larger hole i went through again with the 25 mm it lasted ages , if fact the last time i used the 20 mm i was drilling a 2 ft wall and half the end snapped so a went out and got a new audax 1 meter 20mm £87 + VAT , it drill 12" and burnt out , so i finished the hole with my good old faithfull half tipped drill bit , and got a refund for the expensive one !

Bought mine from the local hire shop, a set of 3 for abot 25 quid. Think they were there own brand but have lasted a good while now

Seems a split decision between cheap and expensive!

Struggling to find some Irwin sets but I've found some silverline ones which I'll try out. £13 is the cheapest I've found for the 1000mm, £29 for 1500mm sets so will see how they go.

Not tried their drill bits, but silverlineC, saw blades are not very good at all; far too soft (sourced from toolstation).

I tend to buy cheap, sds bits and hole borers etc use on couple jobs then bin and replace and costing just goes into the job

Yea dead good there is a place by me called toolman dead good they do a 1200 long 20mm for shoving conduit through Walls for £13 in irwin
is that mr. toolman in stoke?

No mate toolman, yardley Birmingham. It's just off the motorway it's really cheap for top quality tools such as izzy knipex ck Bosch irwin Stanley estwing etc

Many many years ago I was a buy the best tool kinda guy
One day on a site I dropped my brand spanking new stanley tape down the cavity, next I drilled an hole with my fairly new top of the price charts auger bit,the chuck wasn't fully tight and as that sailed down the same cavity I came to the conclusion its beter to drop cheap and nasties down there than expensive clobber

Try Welcome to Moorcut Direct Ltd for a full range of sds plus and max drill bits, also the QUADCUT electrical box sinker. Professional tools at trade prices.
Always pre drill with a shorter length drill before drilling with bits over 450mm in length.
