Hi, i am looking for advice on a way for a 2 wire lead with 2 female terminals on the end that will give me 230/240v so i can plug the female terminals on to a component that i will be testing that requires mains voltage.. So basically a plug with 2 wires with female connectors that will give me mains voltage .. Can i wire up a 2 core wire with a plug or would you suggest some think better.

Thanks

ok. make up a 2 wire lead to connect to your terminals, then you can put the bare other ends into a safeblock. obviously, connect the load end first. google safeblock. if you've never come across one, it's fused and the output is automatically cut when you open it to access the terminals.

Hi thanks telectrix,

I edited my post above after i googled safe block. If for some reason a wrong connection was made would it just blow the fuse in the safe block or would it damage it permanently.

Thanks again , i could not think what the safe block was called till you told me.

if you wired a short circuit , the fuse would blow. it's a standard plug top fuse so you can downrate it to 3A or 5A, depending on the load of your equipment under test. should not damage the safebloc., and yes that what you,ve googled is just the dogs nuts. basically its just a 13 plug on one end and 3 croc clips for your load. the lid has a blade or blades which make when you close it. just like the old isolators

Thanks for your time i will go for this .. have seen it on ebay cheaper so probably get it from there...was just gonna wire a standard plug up but better to do it the right way.

Personally it would annoy me having to use adaptors all the time. Can't you buy a proper UK one?
