Hi All,

Can somebody please explain how if you use the loop-in at the switch method, how does this affect 2 way switching? Or doesn't it?

Cheers.
Nick

doesnt change 2 way , feed to common at one swicth load to common at other switch 2 strappers between the L1 and L2 terminals on each switch , im using the push fit terminal connectors so much quicker for the neutrals in fact for the loops in flourescents to ,loopin basically you drop the feeds into the switch then load out great for wall lights etc just join the neutrals together in the back box as mentioned the push fits are great for this job does that help or am i waffling on again

I thought taking the feed to the switch first was only used in conduit with single core cable?

So basically your saying take your feed L,N,E to the switch, L to common, N connector block,
Strappers from L1 and L2 and N taken over to other switch then take L from common and N from block to the light?

Is this right as would make it clearer and help me as I havnt seen anything wired like this apart from single core and not T+E.

L,N,E in to switch L into L1, switch line outa L2 join neutrals and earths into back box terminal, 3 core + earth over to 2nd switch, Brown common Black L1 Grey L2, sleeve all lives brown

if the feed is at one switch and load at the other how do you get the neutral across to the load switch?

How I would wire it is feed down to sw (LNE) then any twin back upto lights link the neutrals then the feed into L1 and the brown from other twin is your sw so that in L2 then a 3core between sw's brown in your com black in L1 and grey in L2 that ok

depends some switches are using L1 L2 L3 instead of, common L1 L2 , you have loops in and out as you would in a ceiling rose IE: in, out , switch.but in the switch instead of the ceiling rose so you join the 2 lives and connect to the common terminal ,neutrals joined together in a terminal block then a three core to the other switch but using 1 core as a neutral (gray sleeved with blue ) then the other 2 cores brown and black ( sleeved with brown ) go to L1 and L2 ,and the remaining neutral connects to the neutral that goes to the light and the common connects to a live that goes to the light , doing it this way eliminates any crossed neutrals from say ground floor to first floor ,but the first floor landing light would be on the ground floor lighting circuit

Example for a 2 way light from ground floor to first floor landing switch feed method

hope that makes sense

Or......

T&E L,N and E supply into switch:-

Brown to L1
Blue to connector block.

T&E from switch to light:-

Brown to L2
Blue to connector block

3-core & E from switch 1 to switch 2:-

At each switch

Brown to L1
Black to L2
Grey to common

:)

Power off ! The switch wires will be the ones that go low resistance when the switch is turned on and go open circuit when its off.
