Discuss Low Voltage Under Floor Heating in the Central Heating Systems area at ElectriciansForums.net

if it's fitted with a plug, there is no need for any other action, as it is then a plug in appliance and no technical expertise is required.

IMO I would think it would have to be notified under this:

"Special installation" means an electric floor or ceiling heating system" Taken from Part P document

Also I would say that this would be classed as fixed equipment, not that easy to move it around.

In the general section of the Part P document it clearly states that even if a fixed appliance is fed from a 13amp Plug top and is associated with a special installations as an under floor heating system is, then it's notifiable.

"11. The junction box should be connected to the low voltage side of the transformer using a suitably rated two core insulated cable. The cable used should be rated for the maximum current to be drawn by the panels and should be selected to provide no more than a 1 V drop at that current. For example, a 6.Omm cable running a 22 amp current from an ENl6 transformer feeding 16 panels will provide a 1 V drop al 15m length (7.5m run of dual cables)."

Taken from the instructions. Not to sure if this would be a plug top jobby.

Think this definately needs to be notified.

Hello All,
I posted last week regarding electrical Under Floor heating Mats/Coils and trhe need for sparky to sign off the installation. the link below is for a 24volt system that uses and domestic 3pin plug.
diy underfloor heating, diy underfloor heating uk, electric underfloor heaters, underfloor heating

as this is in theory the same as pluging in a TV would it need Part P as well?

I agree with Malcolm here, I can find more reasons to notify than not to notify if that makes sense!
