Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know where I can get a 1mtr long MR16 downlight lead from? All the ones I have seen are around 150mm - 200mm and I need a much longer one.

Hi thanks for you reply, Yes I could but its for a downlight in a hole which has a JB about 2 1/2 foot above it. I wanted to have one cable rather than making a joint. Any other ideas? I have seen longer ones but can't remember where.

got you. then i would connect to the H/R flex with lever wagos. ok. it's an extra joint, but it's accessible through the hole. can't see a problem.

Yes i thought of that but the last terminal block that was in there got very hot and melted so i didnt want any kind of connections. The bulbs are 12v 50W and because there is just a 2 foot tummel hole above it, there seems to be a lot of heat obviously rising and melting the terminal block. Wago connectors go upto 105 degC. The last terminal block was 150mm away from the bulb.

I doubt you'll find a lamp holder with that length of lead, the longest I've seen is 250mm. At the kind of lengths you're after it would be classed as an installation cable by my local regs and it would need to be installed in conduit and secured. The UK regs might permit it however, I'm not sure.

Alternatively the electrical connection was bad to start with and therefore producing local heat that in the end led to the complete failure of the connection.
