Magnet fishing

Well my grandaughter was bored and wanted to go for a walk ( I had prepared a seriously strong magnet and a rope earlier) so took her to the local canal.
First we tried the lock area but got nothing (kids soon get bored) so tried the old boat jetty BINGO a prize every time.
We got loads of nails, screws , bolts , nuts , plates and then large bits of what i believe are cast iron weighing above 6kg (estimate)
All in all a good afternoon and will return as kids love to catch something when they are fishing.
Just a little note every adult and kid that passed wanted and got a go too.

Anyone know what the large metal things are they look like either parts from a dredger or a huge firegrate???

Ahh... That takes me back. As a kid I used to love going down to the local canal and do some dredging!

Thats a good hull , the locks used to be a good place to find windless e's that the boaters drop in , the problem now though is that they make them from aluminium , im surprised you never found a shopping trolly

neomidium magnet suposidly rated at 80kg tried it on my gas bottle for the barbie and it lifts that. Also did expect a shopping trolly but its sort of an island between two waterways canal and river
