Just wondered if any of you have magnetic van signs, and what the pros and cons are?.Also prices.

One of the wholesalers used to have them on their delivery van and we used to turn them upside down every time they delivered, much to the annoyance of the driver:D.

Used them a long time ago when I was a part time taxi driver.

They fall off
People move them:)
Hard to get straight
Look cheap

They were about ÂŁ25

Thats all i've got is magnetic,in the 8 years i've had them they've never fallen off and nobody has moved them, i even bought a magnetic sheet and put the niceic ones on it,looks really neat, the two main signs were ÂŁ80 for the two about 3'x2' in size and the sheet was ÂŁ10

You have to make sure they are AT LEAST .8mm thick to ensure the right magnetic pull to be used for driving at speed. The old ones were thinner and kept falling off on the motorways, which isn't ideal if you think about it, and some of the cheaper ones being sold now are thin and rubbish, too.

i had them on my old van for a few years and found that the parts of the van i had them stuck to started to rust alot. decided just to get the sign writing done when i changed vans

No problem with any of that,no motorways here and my van has a problem with speed its scared I think.

It depends on what work you do , because some of the bigger customers i sub to dont like your sign written vans . but personally sign written vans look more professional.

I need both so i can please all clients.

Sort of thing Ive come across but as I havent done any sub work for a while so I thought a bit of mobile advertising wouldnt hurt. Then I can make a decision on sign writing when I get the new van.

I've got mags....had them a while though and they're starting to bubble....probably time for some new ones.

Had no real issues with em though.:)

Mags the down side now is modern paints, in addition to electrical work I also do quire a bit of sign work. I hold magnetic in stock, but tend to steer customers away from them. I have attached a care sheet that I hand out with a set and if there is any come back regarding damage to the vehicle paint I am covered.

For those that want an un-written van for subi work, get the design put within a 600x100mm area and use a blank magnetic to cover it up :D

I had some beautiful ones made up, and got them home and was proud as punch when I offered them up to my van. They slid straight off though as i forgot my landrover is made of aluminium.
0k, I split my sides laughing. A tube of silicone sorted the problem, so I neither had proper mags or signwriting !!
